サタケ理容所 / Satake Barbershop
おさかな通りにあった、水色の壁の理容店。昭和14年、先代が理容所を始めました。ご主人は2代目で理容師歴40年以上のベテランでした。昭和にタイムスリップしたかのような店内。なかでも一番目立つ、年代物の大きな鏡は舶来品でした。「いつか床屋をやめる時が来たらほしい！」とお客様に言われるほど、木の彫刻が施されたシックなものでした。ものづくりが得意なご主人。前を通りかかると何か作業をしているご主人の姿をしばしば見かけました。「耳かき」を作っていたのです。箱いっぱいの手作りの耳かきがありました。耳かき作りに使う道具の中には、自ら作ったものもあります。そんなこだわりの道具で、竹を切り出し、乾燥させ、削り出し、時間と手間をかけて一本一本ていねいに作り、 お客様にプレゼントしていました。年代物の鏡に耳かきが隠れているきりこです。

“It was our pleasure to present each customer with a handmade ear pick.”
Before the earthquake, the owner of this barbershop used to craft bamboo ear picks in his spare time. He would offer these as gifts to his customers. The shop also used to boast a vintage mirror with a splendid wooden frame. This is what inspired the ear pick and frame motifs in this design.
